You'd be shocked and surprised by the extent of it now.

From meat inspections to aircraft safety.

It's insidious, incestuous, and ultimately deadly.

The process started by funding the regulatory agencies solely with the proceeds of the fines they charge against the industry they regulate. Instead of funding them independently through the government. In that situation there's no way they are going to inconvenience their sugar daddies by fining them or even possibly shutting them down for egregious violations. Just enough to keep the lights on and the ruse and legal cover of having oversight.

All part of drowning democracy in the bathtub.
