Laura Dern's valentine to each nominee was also annoying. "you explored the emotional depth..." I would have rather seen a clip of the work.

Also, to avoid the criticism they get every year for leaving people off of the in memoriam, they crammed everyone in and sped up the lesser stars. It wasn't really possible to read the name and job title before they went on. And pausing extra long over the big names just made it more obvious.
