because if they ever decided to mock them, they were toast. If you want to take power and position away from someone, you mock them. The Pugs have been doing it for eons. They smirk, they mock, they condescend. When it happens to them, they whine. In the Celtic world, all you had to do was sit down outside someone's house if you had a grudge and stay there telling anyone who passed by what your grudge was, the mockingly the better. It usually got settled. Fast.
