I have said this before and will continue to say it. Joe was not my first choice for the Presidency. When he was nominated though, as he campaigned and there were some who thought, "We just handed the Trump the victory" I thought that Biden would be okay. Biden was a fundamentally opposite character to Trump. Bernie is a firebrand. I like his energy and message, but he is bombastic and could rub people the wrong way. Biden is a fundamentally decent person. It just oozes out of him and not in an unctuous and fake way. He cares about people to the point that he is willing to fight for them. That is the exact opposite of Trump. Trump wants people to fight for him. Trump wants people to sing his praises, and Biden wants to sing people's praises. He really believes (some might have said naively) in the goodness of the American ideal and people. Trump couldn't give a shit about the American Ideal or the people.

Biden has a history of gaffes and some less than great takes over his 40 plus year career, but then who doesn't, and knowing that he has had a stutter problem his whole life, puts that into context.

The thing about Biden is that as much as you can say this of any politician who runs for President, he has a solid ego. He isn't there for all the glory. He isn't there for his self image. He is there to help. Biden is the type of guy who doesn't have to come up with the best idea and he isn't one to try to take credit for everything. He is willing to pick a good team, actually listen to them, and do the best thing, giving credit to those whose idea it was. Again, the exact opposite of Trump. Much as I would have liked a woman or person of color as President, I think that we needed Joe to show what a difference character, integrity, honesty, and honor make in a leader.

Republicans can't seem to hit Joe cleanly with anything they throw at him and that must be pissing them off and scaring them. Bonus in my opinion.
