(5,390 posts)First read DU in 2003, but the internet was not always in my budget because I was involved in a four month strike at the time.
Got involved in Kerry's campaign and registered many new voters in our small town which went D by just a few votes.
I did not join until 2007, but have been reading DU regularly since 2004.
I started posting in the primary season and it was brutal. It was the first time I had ever experienced being called a troll, not a real D and other various insults. At first I took it to heart, but soon realized that life was short and a discussion board did not define who I was.
But when it comes to a political discussion board DU is far superior in regards to facts with links to back them up. I also think the majority of members care deeply about this country and their fellow man, that is what keeps me coming back daily.
So may I (a newer member than you) say welcome to DU.
