We are a country awash in untold suffering, violence and death to our citizens because of firearms. We suffer a cabal of warped "leadership" unable and incapable of fixing this situation. We are the horror of the world because of our junky jones for guns. We can trigger PTSD in ourselves just by watching the daily carnage on the nightly news: one minute blood splattered walls at a child's birthday party; the next minute cutesy panda videos. Countries, such as China, have warned their citizens about traveling to the USA because of our culture of mass shootings. Our status as the Mass Shooting Capital of the World remains unchallenged. Mass shooting drills, "what to do" instructions have become the fabric of America. Even the slaughter of school children isn't enough to ignite change. Some of us are compelled to think the unthinkable, the "what if?" What if I'm caught in a hail of bullets. For me, it depends upon the weapon being used. Assault rifle? It's better for total "lights out." People don't really "survive" assault rifles well. Your insides get shredded; some may never walk or work again; you are a psychological wreck. Check out the stories of the victims who "survived:"
This is America.
