In reply to the discussion: Active-duty Marine Major Christopher Warnagiris arrested for assault on Capitol 1/6 [View all]you could make an argument that he went outside of the acceptable pass radius, assuming they had an order dealing with that, if not, then no, as long as he wasn't missing work that day, he wasn't AWOL. I'm going to guess he was on leave or pass or just off that day.
Yes, you can always use conduct unbecoming in a general sense as a catchall, but the military has a concept called unreasonable multiplication of charges that doesn't allow you to charge the same actual conduct twice (or at least doesn't allow you to double punish it). It's not clear they could convict on the same exact conduct if he gets a federal conviction.
