(24,411 posts)1. Joes typically carries only half of the food items included in typical shopping cart surveys, so any bargain you get at Joes is offset by having to shop elsewhere for certain items.
2. Joes prices for fresh meat and dairy are generally higher than what you would pay at Ralphs/Krogers or Stater Bros. Their frozen meats can be cheaper per pound than fresh, but are more expensive than frozen meats at Costco and Sams Club. However, you need to buy in bulk at the warehouse clubs to get the lower per-pound price.
3. Produce is generally more expensive at Joes, but spot discounts on certain items are lower than other groceries. Quality of Joes produce may or may not be higher than at the larger chains.
4. Joes prices are generally lower than those at Target and other chains where the grocery section is a small department, higher when compared to grocery stores.
