23. It's a rotten position to be in particularly as we grow older

Stamina is not what it once was and the stress alone can make you sick.

I don't have any solid suggestions. Not sure what your living situation is but if you own a home, the market right now is off the charts. I'm in Tennessee and we just sold our property in less than 24 hours at $85,000 more than we willing to sell at two short years ago. Our house languished on the market last time for 6 months. Yesterday after we went live, it was total craziness--12 hours of showings and two offers. We took the highest bid.

People are acting as if the last homes on Planet Earth are up for sale--cash deals, no inspections required, etc., etc.

So, depending on your property situation, this is definitely a sellers' market. And then you can downsize to your means. Won't make it easy but perhaps less difficult.
