(79,061 posts)When I joined in late 2003, DU was a great place. I made a lot of good friends, almost all of whom I remain in close contact with -- though few are still here. Obviously, topics will change as time goes on -- especially going from Cheney-bush to Obama to Trump to Biden. But more than topics have changed. There isn't the closeness there was when DU was inhabited primarily with progressives and liberals. As the site has become much more of a liberal-moderate and even conservative Democrats, the tone has changed. Also, as the general society has gone from conversations to tweets -- the language of Trump as president -- even more is lost. We used to have great, long discussions, and at least two gentlemen from MSNBC used to read things such as the "Plame threads" for information coming from sources here.
