43. Yeah, one of my colleagues is in much the same position.

She just came back from maternity leave to find out that she now has to go to the office three days a week, and she lives waaaaaaaaaaaay further away than I do. Her commute by car is about 2.5 hours one way, and of course she has an infant at home to care for. But as far as I know, they refused to make any exceptions for anyone, no matter the circumstances.

I'm glad your stepdaughter was able to work something out with her employer. I wish mine had been as accommodating...
