(28,493 posts)36. There are still states that don't have any kind of early voting,
other than perhaps an absentee ballot. Many of those states have Republican Governors or Legislatures and would gleefully use an Election Day Holiday as an excuse never to have early voting.
Yes, lots of early voting opportunities should be provided, but recently the trend is in reducing those opportunities. A national holiday would only provide them with a greater incentive to reduce early voting.
