9. The equivalent of today's Republicans have been dragging us down since the dawn of humankind.

I believe that we could go back to the dawn of our history as a species and find that these elements have been sabotaging our development and holding us down for as long as we have existed.

Perhaps this sabotaging defective element within our species is our Original Sin.
