Bernie is with an army - he can't fight alone. The rest of the army has to do the fighting too. And they will only get the ground if they can beat the other side! At this rate, Bernie is "fighting" by punching a punching bag, not by gaining territory in the war. In the war, he'd have to fight with the Democratic Army.
