3. It was really pretty pointless.

Almost all of the talking from both of them came in the form of rehearsed, vague, jingo-istic answers.

It sort of bothered me that almost none of the questions were ever answered, but the questions were mostly really terrible anyway.

There were points where Obama could have nailed Romney, but he didn't, either because he isn't quick-witted enough (I really don't think he's good at debating) or because he was just so adamant about delivering those canned responses. However, in some cases, the strongest attacks the president could have made would have also been attacks against all of the very wealthy, including many of his donors - the pessimist in me is afraid that was a factor.

Sure, Obama won on truth-telling, and of course I think his policies are better, but I don't know what purpose that 90 minutes really served. It was a lot like sitting down to watch 90 minutes of campaign commercials.

These debates need real questions and real moderation.
