You don't have to wait for government action, take the bull by the horns yourself when you can. Government is often slow to react or downright recalcitrant. I've seen too many politicians pass the buck looking from financial help from higher levels of government before they do anything. This often allows the problem to fester and get worse.

Not that government doesn't have a place in addressing problems. We should keep working to get them to react when needed. But we all need to be involved when we see something amiss and contribute to the solution if and when we can.
