GOP leadership - the money brokers - have already put a price tag on the population in general - and so long as they personally aren't affected at that particular moment, they won't care if it's 600k or 6 million dead. Not until it starts inconveniencing them.
Most think there's too many poors around anyway. They just need a compliant workforce that will drop out (die) quickly when the workers starts getting too expensive to maintain, pushing out enough kids to keep that workforce efficient over the years.
Other than that, GOP leadership don't care about the citizenship in general.
It's a plantation mentality. Profit off your slaves, then get rid of them when they can't make you a profit anymore.
