10. It isn't really ever one thing.

It certainly has to do with guns and having easy access to guns. To argue otherwise is plain stupid. It is also, as others have said, about the impulse to commit violence, and what causes that in the first place.

As with you, I have owned guns for years. I have never harmed any living creature with them, not even hunting. Like you, if it was decided that people needed to turn in their firearms, I would comply.

Unlike you, I think that while guns play an obvious role in violence, both facilitating it and making it more damaging, I don't think that the object which one chooses to commit violence is the cause of the violence.

We need to address root causes of violence, as another person who responded said, the economic desperation, disconnect from community, mental health issues, lack of hope for a good future, etc... And certainly, as I previously stated, the easy access to guns and glorification of guns and violence. All of those things are part of the solution.

I think I have an idea of what you mean by "gun humper", but you do need to understand that there are likely people on this site who think that YOU are a gun humper too, simply because you own guns, yes? You have also killed innocent animals with said guns.

I agree with you whole heartedly on the NRA, and I definitely have my feelings about people who, all they do is talk about guns, put pictures of their guns online, and seem obsessed with them. I also understand that vilifying an object and anyone associated with that object, does not necessarily solve the issue you want to solve.
