...the person's antisocial choices are putting their healthcare needs in contention with the healthcare needs of others who are looking out for the good of their community by vaccinating. Hoping, wishing, praying, and humane intentions do not increase the number of available, staffed beds in the community.
I'll be damned if I say that it's fair to give an anti-vaxxer a bed my too-young-to-vaccinate son needs (if his exposure in a masked setting does lead to infection with serious symptoms). Their decisions are also generally exhausting the "surge" capacity of the medical community -- the extra shifts, canceled vacations, willingness to stay isolated from family, etc. -- and then what if a variant arises that truly threatens the vaccinated?
