It's called 'messenger RNA' (mRNA) because it contains the instructions to utilize the accompanying water, sugar, salt, fat, and a chunk of protein, to construct what mimics the business-end of the Covid-19 virus, resulting in your immune system attacking it and learning how to kill it, without being overwhelmed as would happen with the real virus, so when next it encounters the real virus it can quickly destroy it.
