In the 70s, there were a couple cases in US communities that rejected health care or vaccination. But the virus has got to keep replicating, and if it can't find a host, it can kind of disappear even if there are a few unvaxxed. It's apparently just not here anymore in this hemisphere.
We're a long, long way from that with Covid.
For one thing, the polio vaccine seems to be permanent. Covid's likely going to be more like the flu-- we'll needed boosters maybe every year. Not a big deal for most of us, but watch the loudmouth idiots shriek every fall about magnetism and microchips.
