The headline is misleading. Fauci did not dismiss the results, but questioned the changing dynamics that may not be an accurate representation. Even the authors of the study suggested the same

Lot of confounding variables in there like when one was started vs other, relative amount of ppl in the cohort delta vs alpha
Original dose of moderna is 3x of pfizer

There are plenty of both vaccines available in the US now, so people should have no problem requesting one they prefer

The most important observation is that both tend to prevent serious complications
