(7,334 posts)Oh well. At least all the things we plan to visit are outdoors.
And we have minimized hotel transfers, we'll eat outside or in the hotel, and no plans for nightlife until we reach Duluth area on our way home. (Minneapolis to Rapid City to Bismarck to Duluth to Minneapolis)
But we really really need a vacation, I've not had more then 4 days in a row off work in 18 months. And we have to get the hell away from PA. Love it here, but getting stir crazy.
We picked this area because of all the natural outdoorsy things to do and see. Badlands, Grasslands, Devil's Tower, Black Hills. We took Sturgis into account in our planning, figured 2 weeks was enough buffer, we knew it would be peaking but also more and more reluctant but sane folks will get the vaccine because of the peak waking them up to reality.
We toured the covid invested South in 4 days earlier this spring - from Atlanta to Memphis to Chattanoga to Atlanta, and we felt safe then. All of the hotel and restaurant staff was masked, as well as the patrons, and we spent most of the time in the car or outdoor sightseeing.
I'm sure we'll be ok - both vaccinated for under 8 months, and dedicated mask wearers etc. And no patience for the anti's.
