5. I don't think there's a long line of countries eager to swoop into Afghanistan at the moment

They seem pretty ungovernable.

The Taliban's affiliation can be bought, probably by China via Pakistan's sympathetic military leaders, but I don't think they're gonna let anyone tell them how to run their dictatorship. China's interest is probably mostly in keeping the Uyghurs unfunded by outsiders. And Pakistan's is mostly about keeping their border calm.

No one gives a shit about the Afghan people.
