It appears in many dictionaries without either 'obsolete' or 'offensive' qualification.

CBS San Francisco: "Fleeing Afghani Refugees"
The Guardian: "Afghani President"
Catholic Charities: "You can help Afghani families"
The Times of India: "Afghani footballer"

All from the first page of news for "Afghani".
