(2,730 posts)I'm a military veteran and was of Draft age during the Vietnam War. I am Black and our family was on government assistance. In, high school I watched guys ahead of me get Drafted, to go to Vietnam. We had to register for the Draft. And every day, we would watch the news with the names of those who died in Vietnam. A lot of my friends died and some in my family. Their names are on that Wall. Romney don't understand that. The survivors are part of that 47%. Everybody didn't have well to do parents like Senator McCain. Everybody weren't POWs like Senator McCain either. Those are the unforgotten heroes.
I also remember another Black male who didn't get the privilege mitt romney got because of his religion. That guy, was the Heavy weight Champion of the World. So there was a double standard. Cassius Clay went to jail and he objected to the the War. Mitt Romney is the opposite. He was for the War, even protested against those who protested against it. So he was excused because of his religion. As a veteran who had friends and family died in Vietnam, I cannot respect Mitt Romney as Commander-in-Chief. As far as their excuse for President Obama, He was only a kid at the time. So that excuse don't fly with me.
