In reply to the discussion: Do You and Your Parents Vote The Same or Totally Different?? [View all]caraher
(6,359 posts)46. Mostly opposite
My father is gone but he was a committed Contrarian. He voted for George Wallace in 1972 and a number of libertarians after 1980.
My mother used to vote for Democrats but had increasing trouble with that because of her pro-life views. So she spent some time as a single-issue voter and after marrying a Fox News addict (who told me last summer he thought Michele Bachmann had a lot of "really good ideas"
she seems to have chugged the Kool Aid wholesale.
Of my siblings, only my brother is a Reich-winger. My 3 sisters are all sane Democrats.

Nice. I heard the term "corporate terrorist" on Thom Hartmann today and I thought that was perfect.

Totally different. But I don't argue - they live in a blue state, so there's no point!

My parents have always been Dems. They have gotten more liberal as they've gotten older

Parents are dead but I'm the white sheep of the family. I can barely log onto FB any more.

My divorced parents will probably vote opposite of each other as they have done in other elections

My dad was (by today's standards) a radically Liberal ex-Marine; Mom, Religious Conservative.

Dad: I'm polar opposite. Mom was apolitical; don't know if she ever voted. She was moderate I think.

Dad was a Dem. Mom turned r/w nut job after he passed away. He was the logical/science/data type

I always wondered what it's like to have somebody in the family who's a Republican.

At my folks, there is a signed, framed picture of JFK right next to the signed handwritten letter
