(42,674 posts)Unfortunately, or fortunately the government changes in steps, policy and procedures. Nationally I almost never vote for a president *aside from Hilary Clinton* I vote for the Supreme Court. I thought people understood this. I thought at least a school rock level understanding of civics was prevalent. I thought wrong.
What Im doing right now, or not doing, is no longer listening to whiteness when expressed. I am listening to the voices who effect actual change or are trying to effect change because it affects them immediately. Its not a political debate. Its not theoretical. Its life and death.
I have little patience left. Id rather listen to black activists, especially black feminists or Hispanic, people from the pan-Asian communities, the Native American communities, (anyone other than those who live satisfying lives stewed in the oppression of others)When they make me uncomfyespecially when they make uncomfortable.
Im following youth. What are they seeing? What are they doing?
What Im not doing is assuming people understand that basic human rights are not in danger. Even now, I get the feeling that a segment of the population doesnt understand this.
