The surreal account of the only living Command Fire Chief at the towers, hearing the boat on the radio reporting for duty and maneuvering toward the towers. He pumped water in the area after the water mains were damaged. So the ALL Call brings out everybody, even retired, to help. A retired FDNY recounted his experience leaving upstate NY and the only other car on the parkway was another FF. He said there was a mile long line of fire trucks and EMS from all over and from out of state at the scene.
