While some posters are insensitive, to say the least, in their comments about Gabby Petito and her family, others point out some serious divisions that already exist in how cases are handled according to race and ethnicity. They are not creating divisions. They are expressing anger at divisions that already exist and are asking for unity in how they are handled. For those posters, the anger is not at Petito and her family. It is at the existing divisions in handling cases of violence against women. Ignoring the validity of their complaints about the problem rubs salt into an already festering wound.
Why not acknowledge the reality of their situation and bring unity to how all cases are handled by becoming aware of what they are complaining about? A good place to start is with a search using the words "missing indigenous women." There is a lot of online information about it in both the US and Canada.
