When Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner were planning their move to Washington, DC, after Donald Trump's election in 2016, many speculated about the roles that the incoming president's daughter and son-in-law would play in the White House.
As senior White House advisors, both were influential in policy debates about issues from paid family leave to Middle East peace proposals.
The former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham wrote in her memoir, "I'll Take Your Questions Now," which The Washington Post obtained ahead of publication, that the couple also sought to wield their power to attend a meeting with Queen Elizabeth II in June 2019.
Grisham, who also served as the chief of staff and press secretary to first lady Melania Trump, said Ivanka and Kushner fancied themselves royalty, according to The Post.
