God bless these two Chicago Democrats!

(more from the report)

"What would the implications for Illinois be if we were to adopt a similar approach?” asked Rep. Kelly Cassidy, D-Chicago, who introduced the TEXAS Act.

Cassidy admitted that her bill would likely only pass in a hypothetical world, but she also pointed out that Texans are already seeking abortions in Illinois, and that the General Assembly needs to respond to that.

For Rep. Margaret Croke, D-Chicago, who introduced the Protecting Heartbeats Act, she says her proposed bill contains a severability clause, making it less susceptible to getting tossed by a court. She explains that if one piece of her firearms legislation is ever found unconstitutional, other components may be able to stand as law.

"I’m exploiting essentially the argument that was made in Texas, and the Supreme Court's argument, and applying it to a bill that I think will do a lot of good,” Croke said.
