When we develop an immune response, the mRNA is modified to be able to produce the appropriate antibodies.

Vaccines based on viruses or viral remnants provoke the immune response, and the mRNA develops the ability to produce the appropriate antibodies.

mRNA vaccines work a little differently. They alter the mRNA directly in order to be able to produce the spike protein of the COVID virus. The body them produces the antibodies as it recognizes the protein as foreign.
