(44,359 posts)Where I use pseudonyms for my screen name and focus almost entirely on political content.
Facebook I use my actual name, and I only have family and friends I communicate with. No strangers, and most of my posts are kept private.
While I do occasionally post about news and politics on Facebook, it's far more rare and--more often--I post about family, sports, movies, TV and other mundane bullshit. During the Trump years I'd occasionally post something if the Former Office Occupant did something that was so incredibly outrageous, but for ever story I posted there were about 10 that I decided weren't urgent enough to post and would just clog up my timeline and annoy apolitical friends of mine.
Not everyone uses Facebook for primarily political reasons.
Also, I'll add that Facebook was my primary means of communication when I was overseas a couple of years ago and needed to tell my family that I had arrived safely. I didn't have a phone package but I was able to get to Facebook messenger when I got Wifi.
