My sons have used it; at a least one of my sons had a high school friend who he is unwilling to unfriend because the guy turned out to be a white supremacist Nazi with a violent streak. He knows where we live and he's scary.
He's stopped using Facebook.
I'm not sure how it works, but I understand that users can see who your "friends" are, and if one of your "friends" turns out to be a Nazi, that's not a good thing for prospective employers to see.
I see it as a kind of walking around naked in a way; I'm naked enough with Google and don't need more of the same. In my line of work Google - in particular Google scholar - is a necessity; Facebook isn't.
