(8,111 posts)It has to do where I live and where I work. I love both. I decided on this lifestyle after TFG got elected. Some folks talked about leaving the country, I sorta did ( I live and work on sovereign land), but headed FOR the country.
I live in the middle of nowhere which reduces the risk of COVID and the eliminates things you miss: there are no concerts, no going out to eat or movies, and all my friends live far away and in the past. I spend alot of time outdoors. Its beautiful and healthy. I pay less and less attention to politics and more attention to nature. Once a week into town for supplies early in the morning, limited exposure to other people. I'm so glad I live the rural life.
Where I work everyone who walks in the door is masked (mandatory) and most are vaxxed. I'm one of few people in the country that can provide the services I do and handle the remote lifestyle. I help alot of people that are in great need. It pays well, country life is cheap, and the outdoors is an inexpensive hobby fer' sure. I am able to pay for our children's higher education which gives me more joy.
Personally, I am experiencing the opposite of dread. From the sound of things, in that I am alone
