103. Other than movies, I didn't really know who he was. I had problems (as a 15yr old yet) ...

... with actors running for office. And here he's only speaking for Barry Goldwater. He was a great propagandist. He managed to make the good economy seem a bad thing and people like this 15 yr old and 16 yr old Hillary Clinton bought into it. Fortunately, LBJ landslid Goldwater out any office after that.

My point is, I couldn't stand Reagan after he transitioned from propagandist to Gov California. I think that speech is what made Reagan governor of CA.

By '66, LBJ was not liberal enough for me. The war became a useless morass in my mind and if I have ever held a knee jerk issue - the war was one for me. Not enough that if LBJ had run for re-election to have voted for Nixon over LBJ, but very close.

Reagan by this time was just a jerk, by '80, the devil incarnate.

GOP politics has always been about image and perception, and the DNC politics about issues and conditions.
