(2,952 posts)had that same thing happen on 624! (almost over the same spot where the scorpion is lying no less)...filled the MCLL bildge all the way to the deck plates...all due to the CO wanting to run the DG at least once every week....this time it was in a sea state 5! the navet handling the head valve actually went to mast because he shut down the air actuator to the head valve without permission....saved the ship and lost 200x2...go figure...the co scrubbed the QM's log as well...made him rewrite the whole incedent before we pulled into LaMadalena and had a meeting with all of the involved parties to tell them EXACTLY what to say to the NIS people...he was a real piece of work! had the water hit the LP blower we would have had to ride back to charleston surfaced...it was a one of a kind blower that would have required a hull cut to take out....
after they shut holy loch down all of the EM club stuff went to the EM club in LaMadalena...the USFL posters included! lol
during 2 out of 3 patrols i did out of the loch we were met by soviet destroyers and agi's....sovremeny and kashin destroyers and vishna trawlers...nasty looking ships but they were pitiful sonar wise....not good when a 35 y/o boomer can dive and immediatly evade you....we would have definatly whooped their asses if war would have ever happened....
