A column or essay on the rhythm method that these nuns are so in favor of. Let me see if I can recount the arguments without embarrassing myself.

1. When starting the no-sex period, it is possible that there are some old (relatively-speaking) sperm hanging around that can still force its way into an egg.
2. Likewise when coming off the no-sex period, it is possible that there are some old eggs hanging around that can be impregnated by new sperm.

In both cases, you get a fertilized egg that is too weak to implant itself in the uterine wall. And the rate of what they're claiming as deaths from contraception would be greater in this case than the others combined.
