because party leadership is a lot smarter than rank and file and they know they can't win without Progressives. . There are two party's, Republican and Democrat. I am a registered Democrat but I am not a Democrat, I am a Democratic Socialist. The world is changing, the electorate is changing, the needs of the people are changing. The party is changing because it must. One size fits all doesn't work. Get used to it.
