And I agree COMPLETELY with the notion that a royal, or anyone closely associated with them, would EVER comment on something like this.

I know this is a bit far afield, but it demonstrates the importance placed on hyper-politeness in upper crust England. As part of the vetting for a potential new member at a very posh gentleman's club, they would host a dinner to assess the man's manners.
