I think we all need to take a deep breath and realize that pipsqueak Rittenhouse's not guilty
verdict should have been expected. Right wingers and racists have always been with us. I have
read so many posts here on DU that say we all need to buy guns and get ready for civil war and the
end of the US and Democracy is dead and on and on. It has been worse is this nation, in fact, it has
been worse for most of our history. The struggle for equality and civil rights and basic humanity will
always be necessary. I think that in small ways we are improving. When our wonderful and respected
Constitution was written, only white, landowning males could vote. There have been many advances
since then. Science has advanced, knowledge has advanced, communication, etc. Of course there are
many more issues that need to be addressed. The Rittenhouse verdict is evidence of that. The former guy's
administration is evidence, climate change is evidence, etc. But I firmly reject the constant doom and
gloom, especially lately over the punk in Kenosha.
Breathe deep, gather yourselves again, and be the change you seek.
