When is the January 6 Committee ... [View all]

... going to get off everyone's back?

Isn't it apparent by now that Bannon, along with the rest of Trump's associates, are innocent of any wrongdoing - and therefore have nothing to say? Why should they be harassed into turning over documents, or even showing up in person to state the obvious: I don't know nuthin' about birthin' an insurrection.

I'm sure thousands of people get subpoenas every day that they ignore - so why focus on those who just happened to be meeting in 'war rooms' and/or telling their podcast listeners to show up in DC on January 6th because "all hell's gonna break loose". I'm sure there are perfectly innocent explanations for such statements.

And why the need to examine Trump's movements and actions while an insurrection just happened to be going on? He was the pResident at the time, and no doubt busy - perhaps putting the final touches on his long-awaited healthcare bill, or perfecting his speech announcing the launch of infrastructure week.

I am at a loss to understand why Trump and his cohorts are under such scrutiny in regards to what we've been assured by countless Republicans was just a regular tourist day at the Capitol - although I must admit that before this particular event in January, I had no idea that 'regular tourist days' have always included destruction, vandalism, erecting nooses - oh, and several deaths. (Like, who knew, huh?)

So what if Trump tried to overthrow our democracy? So what if an entire political party enabled it and/or covered it up after-the-fact?

Are we Democrats so petty that we can't let bygones be bygones, and just move on? Do we really need to hold people accountable for attempting to destroy the foundations of our form of government?

I say it's time to look the other way, ignore the crimes that have been committed, pretend that the corruption within the ranks of the GOP is just business-as-usual - ya know, just like the Republicans are doing right now.
