The trump Virus hitting us

42. I hear ya. I am in a blue state, near a blue city,

but my own small city is purple, surrounded by very deep red rural areas. Our local infection rate is currently over 11%. And that's before the Christmas spike and before omicron arrives. Our hospital has 50 covid patients as of the latest statistics this week. There are only 2 hospitals in the entire county. Considering the high infection rate, our deaths have been relatively low but have been steadily increasing over the past few weeks.

And yet, in many stores and other public places, almost no one wears a mask. Churches have services without mask requirements and with the congregations and choirs singing. Traditional Christmas activities are resuming this year, including 2 indoor Christmas concerts and a Christmas parade where spectators .crowd together, shoulder to shoulder for a couple hours.

The vaccination rate here is 53%. What more could go wrong?
