2. Voting Rights Mean Nothing

if they aren't exercised. Last election in my state only 35% of registered voters bothered to participate. Republicans, who've historically been more engaged in elections, did very well. The main urban area in my county only had 10% turnout.

Apathy is more of a problem than registering to vote IMHO. I'd favor spending resources to engage the democratic electorate and to organize at the precinct level to turn out the vote. Having more registered voters here hasn't necessarily translated to more victories in my area.
