1) President Biden did immediately not catch the meaning of the phrase given the circumstances (I do not think this is likely).

2) He caught the meaning immediately, but did not want to create any sort of tension considering this was an event for children.

3) He recognized the meaning of the statement immediately, and swiftly threw it right back into that smug asshole caller's face. And he did it with a smile. I think this is likely. POTUS is sharp as a tack. I think he took possession of the statement and made it his own.
