7. Now that it is campaign season, we know that Obama cares. He told us so himself.

Of course, the fact that he cannot accomplish anything to stop the downward spiral is due to the obstructionist Republicans.

With the obstructionist Republicans (who might have had actual filibusters if the Senate leadership had ordered the Senate's business to proceed instead of saying "OK, we give up because we don't think that we have enough votes to invoke cloture under Senate Rule XXII), President Obama was forced to send "Free Trade Agreements" with South Korea, Columbia, and Panama to the Senate.

Who knew that they had so much power?

If I understand the mantra correctly, we must enthusiastically re-elect Obama (instead of holding our noses when we vote) so that he can work with Republicans or try to. Now that he wants to engage in insourcing, with the co-operation of whatever Republicans are elected, millions of manufacturing jobs will return and poverty will be reduced.

Cynical? Excuse me, but I've earned the right to be distrustful. He knew that the nation was going into poverty when he took office. He knew it when he promised to renegotate NAFTA. He knew it when he spent so much time and energy pushing for the Republican's plan to have the mandatory purchase of health insurance. He knew it when he sent the so-called Free Trade Agreements to the Senate. Three years is a long time to wait. Maybe we should have Presidential elections every year.
