24. I was thinking about the often opined idea. . .

. . . That we don't want to attract any attention from advanced extraterrestrial races because they could easily destroy us. And that is a valid point. On the other hand, if their technology trajectory is anything like ours, the urge to destroy and crush and oppress would wreck their own civilization first.

The mere fact that they were able to focus their collective will on exploring the Universe might be an indication that these hypothetical aliens managed to get their shit together and develop not just advanced technology, but advanced morality.

This is just conjecture, of course. But we humans have only managed to develop advances in our admittedly limited space exploration by working together and setting aside our narrow nation foci for a shared goal.
