Either you chop the country in half... or you try to follow a more "political map" that is more fragmented and then you'd have "easements" and "legal transport zones".

If California through WA was Team Blue, it might be connected to the Midwest States by a legally drawn 12 mile corridor, 1500 miles long.

Lots of people wouldn't like the results... for sure. But that;s what it takes if the people decide they can't be neighbors.
