15. He is punishing the whole country because he is mad that the WH mentioned him by name

in a December statement about why Build Back Better wasn't going to be passed in 2021. He had asked the WH in advance not to mention him, and when they did he said it endangered his family.

Although he had come back to the negotiating table shortly after saying he was a no vote, I've been worried about all the people who have been trying to persuade him in private conversations, then going on news shows talking about how they've been talking with him. As much as he craved attention when he was the person giving the interviews, he seems to dislike it enough to skewer the Democratic agenda if the news is filled with other people being interviewed about him.

The fact that he's rejecting a framework he had originally agreed to tells me that this is petty and ego-driven, not based on his own inscrutable principles.
